Privacy Policy

This is the plain version of what Language Coach Online (LCO, languagecoachonline.com, operated by Tim Fanning) keeps about you, why, and who else touches it. If anything here is unclear, ask.
What we store
- Account: your name, email address and a hashed password. We never see the password itself.
- Conversations: the audio of each conversation is streamed to the speech model and transcribed; we keep the transcript, the coach’s corrections, timing, and which coach you talked to. We do not keep the audio.
- Practice: the mistakes and practice items built from your transcripts, and how you answered them.
- Usage: which screens you open and when, tied to your account, so we can see where people get stuck.
Why
To run the coach, to build your practice list, to fix what breaks, and to improve the coaching method — for example by reviewing where the coach corrected badly or talked too long. Transcripts are read by the people who build the product, not by other learners.
Who processes it with us
- OpenAI — the speech and language models behind the coach (your voice and the transcript pass through their API).
- Supabase — database for conversations, practice and usage.
- Prisma Postgres — database for accounts.
- Vercel — hosting.
- Resend — transactional email (account notices).
No advertising networks, no analytics trackers from third parties, no sale of data. Cookies are used only to keep you signed in.
How long
Until you delete your account, or until we no longer need it for the purposes above. Email us and we delete your account, transcripts and practice — normally within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support. If you are in the EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The service is for people 16 and older, or younger learners whose parent or guardian made the account and supervises its use.
Changes
We will update this page when something changes and tell account holders by email if the change matters.
